Hisar Fortress
Hisor is a city in western Tajikistan, approximately 45 km west of Dushanbe. It is located at an altitude of 799–824 meters above sea level, surrounded by high mountains. The Hisor fortress, the residence of the Bukhara ruler, is believed to have existed as early as the time of Cyrus the Great and was captured twenty-one times.
